The FPV Drone experience is fantastic and if you’ve spent any time watching YouTube videos like these, then I’m sure you’ll be interested in trying it for yourself! The problem for many is cost. Although the hobby is cheaper than it has ever been, the initial cost can be high. A good pair of FPV goggles are often one of the most expensive parts, but the Eachine VR D2 could be helping to change this! These cheap FPV goggles offer all the features of much more expensive goggles, but without the high price tag. If this sounds too good to be true, read on to find out why I think these are a great pair of cheap FPV goggles.

Eachine VR D2 – Overview & Key Features
These goggles utilise a single screen and a lens to help you focus on the image. This provides a much larger field of view than smaller goggles that rely on much smaller magnified screens. The downside of having a larger single screen is that the goggles are more bulky, but if you don’t have to walk far to your flying spot this isn’t a problem. The feature list for these FPV goggles is impressive considering their cheap price.

Eachine VR D2 – First Impressions
For a pair of budget FPV video goggles, these certainly have the features I’m looking for! The diversity is a great feature and is not normally included in budget goggles like these. A diversity receiver allows you to use an omni-directional antenna twinned with a directional antenna, providing good reception whether you fly behind or a long way in front. The other feature I’m really pleased to see is the DVR. This allows you to record what you see while you fly, so you can create videos without adding a heavy and expensive action camera. The other thing DVR is very useful for is lost drones, as you can replay your recorded footage to see where it is easily.
Eachine VR D2 – Cons
- There is some light leakage, down to the type of goggles. This isn’t uncommon in box screen goggles.
- Limited focal range, but probably ok for most people
- Buttons on front of goggles are harder to use than if they were on the top/sides
- No video in or out
Eachine VR D2 – Pros
- Very cheap
- Good quality screen
- Long battery life thanks to using 18650 cells
- The built in diversity receiver means you benefit from good reception both near and far
- Suitable for people who wear glasses without expensive additional lenses
- Adjustable focal range
- Battery pouch on back of head strap helps to keep the weight off your face
- Built in DVR with playback
Eachine VR D2 – Verdict
For the money, these video goggles will be hard to beat. They provide great features and won’t leave you wanting to upgrade shortly after buying them. Having a built in diversity receiver means that if you do upgrade, these will still make fantastic spectator goggles (everyone loves a ride along!)
